It has been recorded that 3,000 Million coconuts are produced annually in Sri Lanka. Nearly 80% of production is used for domestic consumption and only 20% is used for value addition. Coconut tree is named as ‘KAPRUKA’ because each and every part of tree has a commercial value for different applications. Oil is one of the essential products in Sri Lanka for cooking and other domestic and industrial applications. It has been recorded that the total sales of edible oil in the world in 2015 is USD 87 Billion. Major part of this market goes to healthy oil.
